STATE NOTICE AND PRIVACY RIGHTS
The New Jersey Data Privacy Act or “NJDPA” (N.J. Stat. § 56:8-166) and the California Consumer Privacy Act or “CCPA” (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 et seq.) (collectively, “State Laws”), afford consumers residing in New Jersey and California, respectively, certain rights with respect to their personal information. If you are a job applicant or business partner who resides in California, you are considered a consumer and have certain rights with respect to your personal data. So, in addition to the notices provided above, if you are a consumer, as described here, residing in New Jersey or California, this section applies to you as indicated
The State Laws require that we provide transparency about personal information we “sell,” “share,” or use for targeted advertising. “Sale,” for the purposes of the State Laws, broadly means scenarios in which we have disclosed personal information with partners in exchange for valuable consideration, while “sharing” means we have disclosed information to a third party for cross-context behavioral advertising. In addition, the CCPA has been interpreted to deem this “sharing” to also be a form of “sale.” We never disclose your personal data in exchange for money; however, we do disclose certain categories of personal data (that do not identify you personally) to show you targeted ads on third-party properties and to expand the reach and effectiveness of our own marketing campaigns. These activities may be considered “sales,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under certain state laws. See below for details about your privacy rights, including opt-out rights.
We do not knowingly sell or share personal information about consumers under the age of 17.
Subject to certain limitations, you have the right to (1) request to know more about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, and disclose, (2) request correction of your personal information, (3) request deletion of your personal information, and (4) not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. You may make these requests by submitting this web form. You can opt out of sales, sharing, or targeted advertising by clicking on the Your Privacy Choices icon in the footer of the NJR website you are visiting. Please note that you will need to renew your opt-out choice at each NJR-branded website you visit, if you visit our websites from a new device or browser, or if you clear your cookies. If we need to further verify your request, we may do so by asking you to provide information related to your interactions with us.
If we deny your request, you may appeal our decision by contacting us at privacy-requests@NJResources.com. If you have concerns about the result of an appeal, you may contact the attorney general in the state where you reside.
You can also opt out by visiting our websites with a legally recognized universal choice signal enabled, such as the Global Privacy Control. Please be aware, however, that opt-out preference tools are limited to the browser or devise you are using, so you will need to renew your opt-out choice at each NJR-branded website you visit, if you visit our websites from a new device or browser, or if you clear your cookies.
