SHAREOWNERS ELECT FIVE DIRECTORS AT NEW JERSEY RESOURCES ANNUAL MEETING

Farmingdale, N.J. – New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR), today hosted its 66^th Annual Meeting, where shareowners elected Stephen D. Westhoven to the company’s board of directors for a one-year term and re-elected Maureen A. Borkowski, Laurence M. Downes, Robert B. Evans and Thomas C. O’Connor for new three-year terms.

Shareowners also approved a non-binding advisory resolution on the compensation of NJR’s named executive officers and the ratification of the appointment of Deloitte & Touche LLP as its independent registered public accounting firm for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2019.

At the meeting, First Responder Mark Natale, of Middletown, New Jersey, was recognized with the Alfred C. Koeppe Service Award. Created in honor of Al Koeppe, a member of NJR’s board of directors who passed away in 2016, the award is the highest honor NJR can bestow upon a union employee, who exemplifies a commitment to service that improves the lives of others, enhances New Jersey’s communities and benefits the company.

Mark joined New Jersey Natural Gas, the principal subsidiary of NJR, in 2006. Throughout his 13-year career, he has proven to be a person of character, courage and compassion. In addition to his dedicated service to customers, Mark is a dedicated supporter of our nation’s veterans and committed to ensuring that those who have served in the armed forces receive the respect and appreciation they deserve.

As a tribute to his father, former Air Force Sergeant Joseph Natale, Mark got involved with the Sons of the American Legion. Founded in 1932 as a part of the Legion Family, the organization is made up of individuals whose parents or grandparents served in the military and dedicated to supporting veterans and their families; promoting patriotism; and advancing programs that benefit the youth of our country. Today, Mark serves as the state vice commander of the Sons and commander of Leonardo squadron 338. He is also vice chairman of the National Emergency Fund, which raises money for veterans and their families affected by natural disasters, and a volunteer with Veterans Haven North, an organization dedicated to ensuring homeless veterans are treated and cared for in a dignified manner.    

Each year, Mark volunteers hundreds of hours and raises thousands of dollars organizing events, hosting programs and championing veterans’ causes. There are countless veterans whose lives are better because of him and all that he has done.      

“Al Koeppe believed the greatest contribution you can make is to have a positive and lasting impact on the lives of others,” Downes said. “I can think of no one who exemplifies this belief more than Mark Natale. The important work Mark does for our veterans is a testament to the values of integrity, service and excellence taught to him by his father and inspires us all. His dedication and service to others make him a deserving recipient of this year’s Alfred C. Koeppe Service Award.”
