NEW JERSEY NATURAL GAS CELEBRATES 21st ANNUAL OCEAN FUN DAYS WITH FREE FAMILY FUN
05/09/2024 - For Immediate ReleaseWall, N.J. – New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG), the principal subsidiary of New Jersey Resources (NYSE: NJR), invites customers and community members to discover the wonders of the Jersey Shore at its annual Ocean Fun Days on May 18, 2024, at Island Beach State Park in Seaside Park and May 19, 2024, at the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium in Sandy Hook. Now in its 21st year, this free, two-day event helps bring awareness and appreciation of New Jersey’s coastal environment and ecosystems. As part of NJNG’s commitment to sustainability through its Coastal Climate Initiative, Ocean Fun Days provides fun, hands-on activities for the entire family to learn about these environmental treasures and how to protect them.
This year’s Ocean Fun Days programs include everything from touch tanks, bird walks and beach yoga to fiddler crab races, kayak tours and interactive demonstrations and exhibitions, like seining, and more. Attendees can explore the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s James J. Howard Marine Sciences Lab in Sandy Hook — opened to the public only for Ocean Fun Days. Also, guests can learn from marine scientists, researchers and environmentalists about conservation and the importance of preserving the Jersey Shore's natural resources.
“Ocean Fun Days is a celebration of the Jersey Shore and our unique coastal environment,” said Tom Hayes, director of Customer and Community Relations at New Jersey Natural Gas. "Through hands-on activities and exciting games, people of all ages can learn about the vital role New Jersey’s marine ecosystem plays in protecting our environment and the communities where we live.”
NJNG is proud to host this event, alongside state and local agencies and organizations, including New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium, Gateway National Park/National Park Service, New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry/Island Beach State Park, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the Asbury Park Press and The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s James J. Howard Marine Sciences Lab at Sandy Hook.
